Rotary Kilkenny quiz raises €1,800 for two charities


KILKENNY, Thursday 21 May 2026 — The Rotary Club of Kilkenny raised over €1,800 at its annual table quiz on Thursday 14 May, with proceeds shared between two charities: Down Syndrome Kilkenny and The Rotary Foundation.

The quiz was held at the Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny city centre, hosted by owner and Rotarian John Ryan and his team. The event has become a fixture in the club’s calendar, with a different local beneficiary chosen each year alongside the club’s ongoing support for Rotary’s international service work.

Two charities, one night

This year’s local beneficiary is Down Syndrome Kilkenny, the Kilkenny branch of Down Syndrome Ireland. Run by parents and families on a voluntary basis, it provides activities, therapies and family support for people with Down syndrome across the county.

The second share of the night’s takings goes to The Rotary Foundation, which funds Rotary projects worldwide — from clean water and maternal health to the ongoing campaign to end polio.

“The table quiz is one of our favourite nights of the year. It’s local, it’s fun, and every euro on the table goes back out the door to people who need it — both here in Kilkenny and through Rotary’s work overseas.”
