In-depth information on Rotary Ireland and our key programmes.
About Rotary Ireland
District 1160 is the only Rotary district covering the entire island of Ireland — north and south. Our 65 clubs bring together volunteers from all backgrounds to take action on issues from community wellbeing to global health. Rotary is non-political, non-sectarian, and open to all.
End Polio Now
Rotary has been at the forefront of the global effort to eradicate polio since 1985, contributing over $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours. Wild poliovirus cases have been reduced by 99.9%. Rotary Ireland clubs actively fundraise and advocate for a polio-free world.
The Rotary Foundation
The Rotary Foundation funds grants that support local and international projects in seven areas of focus: peacebuilding, disease prevention, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, education, economic development, and the environment. Irish clubs access Foundation grants for projects at home and overseas.
Youth programmes
Rotary Ireland runs several youth programmes including Rotaract (18–30), Interact (12–18), the Youth Leadership Development Competition (YLDC), and Generation Chef. These programmes develop leadership, community awareness, and practical skills in young people across the island.
